NWCGA v Cheshire
Match report – Sunday April 12th @ Conwy GC

A sunny but windy morning greeted the players from both sides, due to the course being busy with morning 4balls, the foursome matches doubled up on groups who 8 players walking down the 1st hole with only 4 balls in play.
All matches were nip and tuck going into the back nine, the first match was level until the 15th when NWCGA won this with a birdie and followed up with a win on 16 so with a very good par on 17 meant a 2&1 win for Conwy members Matt Peacock and making his debut Stephen Nealey.

Match 2 went with Cheshire but the Holywell duo of Robert Jones and Chris Pierce made sure of the home point with a great 4&3 win.
Matches 4&5 went to the away team leaving one match out on the course this went all the way to the 18th with Tom Williams holing a good putt to secure a 1up win for him and fellow Llangollen member Nick Dulson.
Morning session finished level at 3-3.

After a quick lunch the singles matches went out in four balls as the tee times were tight between the sessions.
The first four matches all went to the away team but that does not tell the full story as Matt and Stephen lost on 17 with Shaun losing on the 18th and Sean losing on 15.

NWCGA won its first point in match 5 with Rob Jones gaining a 1up win on the 18th, match 6 went to Cheshire with Chris losing on the 17th in a very good match, but the next home point came in match 7 with Arron William wining 3&2 playing very well.

Julian Williams & Gareth Evan’s both lost leaving the last three matches going to the last two holes, Adam Partington was the next home winner with a 3&1 win on 17, Tom Williams went down the last again and holed another good par putt to win 1up with Nick Dulson halving the 18th for a hard fought half, this making the afternoon session final result of 4.5-7.5 to Cheshire.

Final result was NWCGA 7.5 Cheshire 10.5

A brilliant effort from all that represented North Wales Four Counties against a very good Cheshire side that plays this format week in week out.

Next mens fixture is at home to the Army on Sunday July 26th in Llandudno.

Wishing everyone a great season for your club and county, and catch up soon.
