It was a case of “what might have been” this week as the team faced a narrow defeat, defined by the narrowest of margins on the greens. Despite a strong start and plenty of grit, the afternoon session proved to be the undoing in an otherwise competitive fixture.
The Morning Session: All to Play For
The team started the day in fantastic form during the morning foursomes. With several gritty performances, the lads finished the session well in the mix, setting up a thrilling afternoon of singles matches.
The Afternoon: A Story of the Greens
Unfortunately, the story shifted in the afternoon singles. While ball-striking remained solid, local knowledge of the greens proved decisive. A uncharacteristic string of three-putts across the board—including some tough losses from our “big guns”—put the team on the back foot.
Despite the effort, the putts wouldn’t drop when they mattered most, leading to a frustrating finish after such a promising start.
Looking Ahead: Cheshire at Conwy
We don’t have long to dwell on the result, as our focus shifts immediately to the upcoming home fixture against Cheshire at Conwy on the 12th April
